If you need to get the CLSID of an application do the following:

1) Start >> Run >> Regedit

2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\CLSID

3) Within this branch hit ctrl + F to search for the application you require the CLSID for e.g. Excel

4) Hit F3 to go through the results until you find the application you need

1) Launch the disk management tool via Start Orb >> “Search programs and files” >> then type in diskmgmt.msc

2) Once it opens right-click on the drive you want to partition and then choose Shrink Volume

3) It will query for the available disk space and then you will then be presented with a window showing you the Size of the Hard drive and the total amount available to Shrink. Enter in the amount you would like to shrink. This will be the size of the new partition. It can’t be more than the amount available to you and remember that Approx 1000 Mb = 1 GB

4) Once you have entered the values to shrink, click on Shrink and when completed, you will see an unallocated space which is the size you just shrunk the volume by. Select it and right click and then select New Simple Volume

5) Assign a drive letter and then on the Format page, Ensure NTFS is selected and then enter a name for your drive and click Next followed by Finish

You go to play a movie using DivX and recaive the following error:  “The file contains a track in the Dolby AC3 Audio code “8192” format. You may need to install a Directshow decoder for this audio format."

To fix this download AC3Filter from here http://ac3filter.net/releases/ac3filter_1_62b (preferably the full version)

The last day I had the unenviable task of rolling back to XP from Vista. It wasn’t as painful as I expected :) Here are some steps you can follow if you need to do it. This was performed on a Dell Inspiron 1545.

1. Enter the BIOS (F2 on boot up) and change the boot sequence to boot from CD

2. Then boot up from CD

3. You may get the STOP 0x0000007B(0xF78DA63C,0x0000034,0X x0000000,0x0000000 error message…follow this link to fix it

4. Let XP install which should take some time….

5. XP should be installed now so run Windows Update to get all of the patches.

6. If there is no wifi option available or you cannot connect to Wifi get this driver from Dell

…and you’re done!

I received the STOP 0x0000007B(0xF78DA63C,0x0000034,0X x0000000,0x0000000 error message if I booted with Windows XP. I resolved the issue by the following actions
1. On start up (Dell logo), press F2 to enter BIOS
2. Expand the "Drives" section
3. Go to "SATA Operation"
4. Change this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID Auto/ATA"
